Established in 1611 and with a population of just over 50,000, it boarders with Palauig on the North, Botolan on the South and Tarlac on the East.

It is the Provincial Capitol of Zambales since 1901 when under the American administration it was moved from Masinloc as Iba was more central.

As the Capitol, all Government agencies are located in Iba and it has a thriving business area that has seen massive growth over the last decade. It also has an operational airport, though there are no scheduled commercial flights.

Tourist attractions:
Known as the "Home of Beautiful Beaches", its beaches are by far its biggest attraction with many high quality resorts in the area. It is also home to the Dinamulag (Mango) Festival, held each April and the Paynauan Festival held each May.
Other attractions are a three tier waterfall and a River Park with floating restaurant.

Beaches:

Iba, along with Botolan, were the first areas to develop for tourism, there are a number of high quality resorts in the area, also many that cater for the budget minded; however, there are only a few that are fully operational all year round.
The town also offers a varied array of restaurants, though most close by 9 PM.

With the new road currently under construction that will connect Botolan to the SCTEX via Capas, one can expect that Iba and Northern Zambales will see an explosion of development as travel times to Pampanga, Tarlac and Manila will be cut by hours.

Festivals:

The Dinamulag Festival, also known as the Mango Festival, as Dinamulag is the local Sambal word for Mango, is generally held in April each year and is a colorful, spectacular event with street dancing competitions, float display and a talent quest, crowned with the Miss Zambales Pageant on the Saturday evening, this is a do not miss event.

.

International Lifesaving Sports:

Since 2012, Zambales Lifesaving, whose training facility is located in the adjoining Botolan, has run a lifesaving sports competition. For the last several years this has been held in Iba, generally in March each year at the Palmera Garden Beach Resort. This has over time grown to be one of the biggest and best run events on the Philippine Lifesaving calendar. Even attracting teams from other South East Asian countries.

It is now also a two day event as Zambales Lifesaving Inc. has now and for the last 3 years included special events for kids, 5 years and above, know as the Nipper's Carnival. One day is dedicated to the Senior team events and the other to the kids events. This is basically a Drowning awareness program.
